THE CAUSES
Why Do Google Reviews Disappear?
Google removes reviews all the time, and it rarely tells the business owner. Most owners only notice weeks later, when the number on their profile looks smaller. These are the usual reasons:
Spam filters
Google's automated systems remove reviews they think are fake. Real reviews get caught too, especially when several arrive on the same day or from the same Wi-Fi network.
Policy problems
Reviews from employees or family, reviews given for a discount or gift, and reviews collected only from happy customers (review gating) break Google's rules.
The reviewer removed it
A customer can delete or edit their own review. When someone deletes their Google account, all of their reviews go with it.
Profile changes
Merging duplicate listings, moving to a new address, or big changes to your business name or category can shift or hide reviews.
Temporary glitches
Sometimes reviews vanish for a few days and come back on their own. That's why the alert tells you to wait 2–3 days before acting.

What to Do When Your Reviews Drop
- Wait a couple of days. Short drops often fix themselves.
- Find out which reviews are gone. Compare the Reviews tab in your Google Business Profile with an older screenshot or your review notification emails.
- Contact Google if real reviews were removed. From your profile, open Support and ask Google Business Profile support to look at the missing reviews. Give dates and reviewer names if you can.
- Fix the cause. Stop any review incentives, don't collect reviews in-store on one Wi-Fi network, and ask for reviews from every customer, not only happy ones.
- Keep new reviews coming. A steady flow of genuine reviews protects your rating and your ranking far better than chasing old ones.
THE OTHER SIDE
How to Remove Fake Google Reviews
Maybe you're here for the opposite problem: a fake or abusive review you want gone. Google won't remove a review just because it's negative, but it will remove reviews that break its policies, such as spam, fake reviews, hate speech, off-topic rants, or reviews from competitors.
- Report it. On Google Maps, open the review, tap the three dots and choose Report review. Pick the reason that fits best.
- Check its status. Google's Reviews Management Tool (in Google Business Profile help) shows whether your report is still being checked or was decided.
- Appeal once. If Google decides to keep the review and you're sure it breaks policy, you can ask for one more look through the same tool.
- Reply calmly. While you wait, post a short, polite reply. Future customers read replies, and a calm one makes a fake review look fake.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Google Review Drop Alert really free?
Yes. You can check any business and set up weekly alerts for up to 3 businesses per email address at no cost. No credit card and no account needed.
How often do you check my reviews?
Once a week. If your total Google review count is lower than at the last check, we email you the same day with the old and new numbers.
Why are my Google reviews disappearing?
The most common reasons are Google's automated spam filters, reviews that break Google's policies (for example, reviews from employees or reviews given in exchange for a discount), customers deleting their own review or Google account, and profile changes such as merges or moves. Sometimes the count also drops for a few days because of a temporary glitch on Google's side.
Can I get deleted Google reviews back?
Sometimes. If a real customer review was removed by mistake, you can ask Google Business Profile support to look at it. Reviews removed for breaking policy, or deleted by the reviewer, usually do not come back. The best protection is a steady flow of new, genuine reviews.
Why is the number different from my Google Business Profile dashboard?
We use the public review count that Google shows on Maps. It can lag behind your dashboard by a few hours or days, and Google does not count reviews that are still being checked. What matters for the alert is the change from week to week.
Do you need access to my Google Business Profile?
No. The tool only reads public information that anyone can see on Google Maps. You never share a password or give us access to your profile.
How do I stop the alerts?
Every alert email has a "Stop alerts" link. One click and we stop watching that business for you.
